THREAD OR TRAIL

She sat and wondered
Was losing the thread of his words
Therefore the trail to their destination was why he left?
She was a lady of beauty and subtlety,
He, a man of intellect
But his attempt of seduction
By way of soporific platitudes and mental puzzles
Left her....lost and confused
She loved him, he was aesthetically pleasing too
But he thought too much and tried too hard
All she wanted was a.....kiss on the lips
Hold of her hand
And he would have had her as his
To love and cherish
But instead they parted
He never tying off the knot in his thread of mysterious words of love
And finding the trail to her heart
If only he had opened his eyes, the signs were there,
Constant attention, company and a willingness to listen with eyes always bright, never dull
The destination of romance he would have found
Right in front of him

Thread or trail were words/ subject given on by bequest by Kylie Earl. This is partly autobiographical and cathartic though tinged with regret.
